A family business built on family values
Gallagher Family Funeral Directors are an independent, family-owned business established in 1993, opening initially on Bradford Road, Keighley and moving to Airedale House, Utley in 2004.
With a considerable growth of a professional, carefully chosen team over the years, the business is led by David and Adele Gallagher, who together have over 30 years’ experience of the industry. Their son, Sam joined the business in 2021 with an aim to guiding it towards the next 30 years, maintaining our highly respectable reputation.
We continue to provide the same level of care and respect expected of us over the years and our services include simple traditional services to more elaborate funerals. We believe the funeral itself should reflect the personality and celebrate the life of the person who has died and there are many ways to make a funeral unique and bespoke.
Our family remains to be dedicated to supporting you and will be guided by your lead whilst making personal choices in creating a dignified, respectful, and modern service, truly representing the personality and wishes of loved ones.
Families who we support can be assured and have confidence in knowing that they are in the hands of a professional, trustworthy company that will oversee every detail of funeral arrangements, whilst always respecting their wishes with dignity and respect.

Our Premises
The business opened the doors of their first property in Bradford Road, Keighley in 1993 and in May 2004, David and Adele re-located their business and home to Airedale House in Utley.
The property was a former working farm dating back to 1843 and proved to be the ideal premises. Following extensive refurbishment, the property now consists of a service chapel, comfortable arranging rooms and offices.
The location of the chapel is often one of the main reasons families choose their services. They are assured that their loved ones are resting in a traditional property with modern facilities and the family are close at hand in their home next door.
Situated in Utley, the property boasts views of the Aire Valley overlooking Howden View. David, Adele and their family reside in the house attached to the business, meaning they are always available to families who require their assistance and support.
Their Final Journey is Our Greatest Privilege
We operate a modern fleet of E Class Mercedes Hearse & Limousines.
We will ensure every part of your journey to and from the funeral is taken care of and can always accommodate any special wishes.
Alternative fleets of vehicles are available upon request, plus a range of alternative modes of transport to make your final farewell personal to your loved one.
Meet our Family and our Team
We are proud to employ a team of carefully chosen individuals who are very much a part of our family and are committed to the same care, respect and understanding of the bereaved that you would expect from a family business.
David Gallagher
David had 4 years previous experience before starting the business in 1993 and became a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors, passing the Diploma in Funeral Directing set down by them in 1992.
Adele Gallagher
Adele worked closely with David from 1993 but entered the business in November 1997 and successfully gained her Diploma in 2000.
Remembrance Charity
In memory of loved ones that we have cared for through the year, we choose a charity to donate to. In December we place a Christmas tree at our premises at Airedale House, and each white light represents those we have cared for, giving our families the knowledge that they are not forgotten and remain to be remembered by us. As a family, our experience with Gallaghers was exemplary. I cannot recommend them enough. In such a difficult time, they support and guide you with the utmost respect and care and made the whole process much easier.
Wendy Halloway
I can’t thank Gallagher’s enough for dealing with the loss of my lovely Mum with compassion and understanding. Special thanks go to Michelle, who seemed to really understand us as a family and helped to make a difficult day run smoothly, with everything just as we wanted.
Peter Mawson
We very much appreciated the time, trouble and care given by Paul and all the staff both before and during the day of the funeral, that was put into supporting us into creating the funeral that we know my father would have wanted. A job well done from a family friendly service.
Helen Cobley
I cannot be more grateful to the whole team at Gallaghers, but especially to Sam. He has been utterly professional and supportive throughout the process and has made an otherwise sad occasion into a superbly managed celebration of my father’s life.
Pamela McSharry
All staff showed empathy and were very supportive as we endured seven weeks of waiting for the funeral to take place, through no fault of their own. On the day of the funeral, all ran smoothly and the staff were professional and also friendly which we considered a perfect balance.
Kim Young
I was treated with great respect, consideration & sympathy from first contact. Simon has guided & advised me throughout a very difficult time. Always available to reassure & answer questions efficiently, friendly & professionaly. Would highly recommend.
