Our story
Gallagher Family Funeral Directors (formerly David Gallagher Funeral Directors) is an independent, family-owned business, led by David and Adele Gallagher, who together have over 30 years’ experience of the industry. Their son Sam joined in 2021, with the aim of guiding it towards the next 30 years while keeping the reputation that families trust.
Our services range from simple, traditional funerals to more elaborate occasions. We believe a funeral should reflect the personality of the person who has died and celebrate their life, and there are many ways to make one unique.
We are guided by your lead, creating a dignified, respectful and modern service that truly represents your loved one’s wishes.
How we have grown
- 1993David opens the business on Bradford Road, Keighley.
- 1997Adele joins the business, gaining her Diploma in Funeral Directing in 2000.
- 2004The business and the family home move to Airedale House, Utley.
- 2021Sam joins the team, and goes on to achieve his Level 4 Higher Diploma in Funeral Directing in 2024.

Our premises
Airedale House in Utley was a working farm dating back to 1843. After extensive refurbishment it now has a service chapel, comfortable arranging rooms and offices.
The chapel is often one of the main reasons families choose us. Your loved one is resting in a traditional property with modern facilities, and the family is close at hand in the home next door. David, Adele and their family live in the house attached to the business, so we are always available to families who need us. The property looks out over the Aire Valley towards Howden View.
Their final journey is our greatest privilege
We operate a modern fleet of E Class Mercedes hearse and limousines, and we take care of every part of the journey to and from the funeral. Alternative vehicles and other modes of transport are available on request, so the farewell can be personal to your loved one.

FounderDavid had 4 years’ previous experience before starting the business in 1993. He became a member of the National Association of Funeral Directors, passing their Diploma in Funeral Directing in 1992.
Funeral DirectorAdele Gallagher, Dip. FD
FounderAdele worked closely with David from 1993, entered the business in November 1997 and gained her Diploma in 2000.
Funeral DirectorSam Gallagher, Dip. FD
With us since 2021Sam joined in July 2021 from procurement and learning and development at a national construction firm, and achieved his Level 4 Higher Diploma in Funeral Directing in October 2024.

Proudly serving families across Keighley, Airedale and the surrounding villages for over 30 years. We are based at Airedale House on Skipton Road in Utley, Keighley, and a member of our team is on hand and on call 24/7.
We regularly work at Oakworth, Skipton, Shay Grange, Bierley, Rawdon and Lawnswood crematoria, and we can arrange cremations, burials in other parts of the UK and repatriations from and to other countries.
