When considering what type of funeral a loved one would have wanted, it is useful to be guided by the religion that they followed. All religions have differing traditions, rituals and etiquette which are followed throughout a service.

During a religious ceremony a religious leader will preside and guide the mourners through the rituals which may be held within a church, chapel, or alternative location guiding them through readings, prayers, and traditions.

The choice of cremation or burial may also be determined by religion or may also be a decision already made by a loved one.
